Development & Casting Associate
The Development & Casting Associate will support and contribute to the creative development pipeline of Fiery Angel, working closely with the producers and the wider team across a varied slate of projects.
This role is suited to an experienced practitioner who has already built a solid grounding in theatre development and casting. The successful candidate will bring strong instincts, curiosity, and confidence, with the ability to represent the company professionally in conversations with agents, creatives, and partners.
The role will involve having an exceptional knowledge of high profile casting with meaningful creative input and collaboration working alongside the producers and existing team members.
The role is full time, but we would consider part-time or job share applicants.
Key Responsibilities
Project Development
- Support the development of new work across drama and musical theatre, with a particular emphasis on early-stage creative development
- Read scripts, treatments, and proposals, and provide thoughtful creative feedback.
- Contribute ideas and research to help shape projects creatively and commercially.
- Assist in identifying emerging writers, directors, and creatives aligned with the company’s vision.
Casting & Talent
- The candidate will have a passionate interest in connecting project ideas with high-profile actors and talent.
- Build and maintain relationships with agents, performers, and creatives.
- Stay informed about current and emerging talent, availability, and industry trends.
Market & Industry Awareness
- Research and track commercial and subsidised theatre activity in the UK and internationally.
- Contribute to strategies for audience engagement and box office success.
Collaboration & Communication
- Liaise with producing theatres, creatives, and partners during the development process.
- Prepare clear, engaging pitch materials, briefs, and presentations for internal and external use.
- Represent the company confidently and appropriately in meetings and industry settings, with increasing independence as the role develops.
Skills & Experience

- Proven experience in theatre development, casting, or a closely related creative role within theatre or the wider performing arts.
- A strong understanding of drama and musical theatre, with particular interest in development and casting
- Experience engaging with agents and high-profile talent, with the confidence to hold professional conversations even if still growing a personal network.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills; highly literate and articulate.
- Organised, proactive, and comfortable managing multiple projects in a busy office environment.
- Strong IT skills.

Salary is dependent on experience.
